--the mass incarceration of way disproportional numbers of black youth and men, on minor drug offenses (that whites were largely NOT going to jail for), keeping them in our dangerous, destructive, non-rehabilitative prisons for very long sentences--often private corporate prisons some of whom have donated to Clinton's current campaign; destroying their future lives, giving them lifetime police records, making them ineligible for student loans, ineligible for public housing, ineligible for food stamps, and depriving them of their right to vote!--all as the result of the Clintons' great escalation of the corrupt, murderous, failed U.S. "war on drugs."
No. 2: When white people call teen offenders "super predators," that is code for black. They are NOT talking about white "super predator" children! Black people know this. I know this. Any whites who have experience of black lives--friends, family--or even just do a bit of reading, knows this. You might try to be a little more sensitive, with your "FACT."
If it hadn't been for the follow-up by the Clintons--including the profiteering off of the destruction of black families and black communities all over this country--I might be inclined to give Clinton the benefit of the doubt, that she didn't mean black. Tone deaf, maybe, but not intentional.
But it is the follow-up that defines the meaning. She was going to use poor blacks, struggling to eke out a living-- who fell into drug use or the drug market by the evaporation of American jobs due to the Clintons' NAFTA--for building a personal fortune from the REAL "super predators"--Goldman Sachs, et al. For instance, the manufacturing corporations they were trading in, in their Big Casino, were paying workers $1/day or 35 cents/day wherever they could get away with it, leaving devastated communities all over the USA, both white and black, but black communities took the hardest of hard hits. And "to bring them to heel," police departments were militarized, given the "war on drugs" as an excuse, and who did they go after? Black kids and men.
Latinos also suffered mass incarceration in the same way. They got hit by NAFTA in two or more countries. NAFTA and associated destructive economic policies began destroying agriculture in Mexico, for instance, which decimated many small towns and villages. Families here with relatives in Mexico had to deal with joblessness and poverty in both places, which in Mexico included loss of small plots of land used for sustenance food. Those people began migrating north and their poverty had to be absorbed by relatives and communities here. And on top of this, some Latino kids and men also fell into drug use and/or drug markets to try to make a living in these desperate conditions. They, too, were way disproportionately jailed, often for minor offenses, with long sentences and permanent records.
It's still going on and Clinton supports it all, and it supports her!
Both groups, black and Latino, are often framed, often picked up for nothing, often brutalized for nothing, and almost never have adequate legal counsel. And we are seeing the "end game" of these policies in the outright shooting to death of innocent black youths and men for no reason at all!
