In reply to the discussion: Sanders: Obama lost touch with grass-roots movement! [View all]Raine1967
(11,596 posts)49. To be truly honest
I don't think bringing an article from last february is going to help.
I have far less a problem with Sanders than a select group of his supporters that I have seen, and I am not talking about exclusively about DU. I am talking specifically about what I see on video/youtube, twitter and other social media platforms.
Having said that, this statement from this article is not helping. Like I said, Obama became President. He didn't abandon grassroots,he didn't lose touch
he got elected.
Tell me how he lost touch when he goes to Martha's Table year in and year out. HE asks everyone to play a part in a day of service EVERY YEAR.
I disagree with what Sanders said in February. I deeply disagree with a segment of his supporters.

So what do you think he should have done differently to prevent the losses of 2010 and 2014?

I watched in dismay as he avoided any mention of voting for the down-ballot candidates.

If nothing else this might push Obama to break with tradition and endorse a primary candidate.

Attack is a bit of a strong word for Sen. Sanders's comments, isn't it?

Brilliant strategy. I guess Bernie doesn't need Obama supporters to win either.

Which political party was Sanders a member of when Obama "lost touch" with the party grassroots?
