12. People need to go back and watch the Ma and Pa Kettle

movies from the 40s. That would give them a small inkling of what it was like before the buying frenzy of they 50s started. There are some things that I would never want to go back to - the outhouse, a wood cook stove, no running water, etc. But life was not bad back then just very hard for women. A lot of "women's work" was physical. Not like throwing the dirty clothes in the washer and dryer.

A lot of the buying frenzy today is in the area of entertainment. We used to listen to the radio. Visit with each other and have card parties.
