In reply to the discussion: Stacey Abrams predicts female or minority candidate will prevail as Democratic presidential nominee [View all]Amimnoch
(4,558 posts)True, when asked, not many today will say they care about gender, or won't vote for women.
Likewise true, that it shouldn't matter at all.
However, much like today's version of racism, today's Misogyny has evolved into something less obvious, but much more insidious.
Sure people are willing to vote for women, but there's still many who hold women, just as they hold other minorities to a much higher standard for the exact same level of acceptance.
Really, just look at the 2016 run for POTUS... So many were willing to accept and turn a blind eye to all the worst things about Cheetolini while condemning/attacking Hillary for every minor fucking thing, especially when compared to the things he was given passes on.
Had Cheetolini been a female with the exact same "faults", he would have NEVER been elected.
Had Cheetolini been a racial minority, he would have NEVER been elected.
Male privilege/white privilege is a real thing.

primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
