Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: Stacey Abrams predicts female or minority candidate will prevail as Democratic presidential nominee [View all]Celerity
(51,000 posts)28. let's really drill down into this, here are the names of the 2 Biden advisors
who were floating the ideas of both (1) naming a VP early (and it didn't have to be Abrams per se) and (2) running as a 1 term candidate.
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/21/us/politics/joe-biden-2020-election.html
Senators Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren, Mr. Biden has not spent years building a muscular digital operation aimed at stimulating online supporters to give money. So his team is mulling a host of unconventional steps, including several related to fund-raising, transparency and the mechanics of a campaign.
But none would carry the impact of naming a running mate early or vowing to serve just one term.
Two of Mr. Bidens closest advisers, Steve Ricchetti and Mike Donilon, have floated both possibilities in recent weeks. And they have been egged on by some Democratic lawmakers, who have urged the Biden associates to strongly consider the one-term pledge to immediately defuse the question about his age.

I am sure that (on this I hope we can agree) that there was no official offer, no hard pitch offered up by Biden at their meeting. But the entire concept of both ideas (regardless of who the VP would be) is not a figment of peoples' imaginations. And again, my quote from her ('We talked about a lot of things but that was not the core issue') was from a live show, CBS This Morning, on March 27th, 3 days after the live show (in Los Angeles, with Jamil Smith, on the 24th) that you posted.

primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
