Tonight I am saying thank you |
|
for being alive. Please don't hit the delete button let me explain. Earlier today my daughter and I were driving to one of our favorite restaurants, the traffic on the freeway was backed up for 3 miles due to construction. Okay we finally arrived at our destination.
Then late this afternoon I took my daughter home and returned back to the freeway. When I got on the freeway driving was okay, all of a sudden there was a back up, the freeway ahead was closed and everyone had to enter another freeway. Hmmm? another construction debacle? No, there was a deadly accident ahead, five cars involved, a truck and car burned. Lesson, before cussing the traffic problem because of construction, just remember that someone ahead could be dead. My daughter and I just talked, guess there was one horrible accident, one person dead and another very seriously injured.
The thing is my daughter and I at the last minute decided to do some grocery shopping before taking her home. If we had not stopped at the store, maybe .... I might not be here right now.
A horrible day of driving, but so very happy to be home tonight, someone did not arrive home today and someone is in serious condition in a hospital.

1. Glad you and your daughter are OK! |
|
I was on my way to clinical at the hospital this past fall, and a tractor trailer driver fell asleep on the other side of the highway and came careening across 4 lanes right at me. It was terrifying.
It really puts things in perspective. :grouphug:

2. Being a cancer survivor, I completely understand what you are saying! |
|
Glad to hear that you and your daughter are fine! Whenever I drive by an accident, I'm glad it's not me involved.

8. I'm glad you were not on the road then and there. |

That's kind of the scariest thing about car accidents..the sheer randomness of them.. It could happen to any of us at almost any time, and when we get so close to one it reminds us. My husband was nearly killed in one a little over a year ago and I still bless every sunrise that he wakes up next to me.

9. Yep, appreciate what you have, because "tomorrow" it could all be gone! |
|
Horrible thing to say, but being that I was only 28 when diagnosed, I can understand the beauty of things around me, especially my children/family.

although at the time I didn't know for sure if there was a deadly accident but suspected it was an accident not construction. It is going to take time for me to wind down tonight.

10. I'm so glad you're safe. |

No matter how late I am, I take my time. More than once this has resulted in missing a bad accident by mere minutes and each time reinforces the 'just chill' rule. Be safe.
