A great chain that was started in Dallas and has now gone to several other states. The original owner's daughter, Boots, is very cool, and the merchandise selection cannot be beat!

37. Well, their CEO is a libertarian who won't allow unions

I think a couple of stores managed to get unions in, but he's busted others. The store in the Lakeview neighborhood in Chicago has prohibited staff from having visible piercings other than ear, and having hair color that could not occur naturally, which I think is utter corporate bullshit.

The thing about boycotts is...there's no corporation that wears an untarnished halo. You have to do a cost-benefit analysis and decide whether the corporation is doing more harm than good. WF is at least providing organic and natural options in urban areas; I find Trader Joe's is a more ethical corporation at this time, although it could always change.

It seems to me progressive business organizations in America is quite new.

I did a goggle search on socially responsible organizations and what came
up as number 1 on goggle was from http://www.global-equality.org/action/soc_business.shtml which is the National Association of Socially Responsible Organizations and I clicked a few links such as United Northeast Natural Foods & Organic Produce and Boulder Co-op Market and I get error messages.

As a buyer of organic products in NYC I am not a happy consumer. I just briefly reviewed from this list and none seem to have a 30 day money back guarantee like my home business which has a 30 day refund policy on all the products and services sold from my store located at http://www.americansupermart.com

If the products on this list are so much better then mine at my store why can't they just offer a 30 day money back guarantee?

I just stated my home business a few months ago. I as well have not seen them listed in any left wing groups such as opensecrets.org.

My own opinion of why SFI (Veriuni) is not listed in opensecrets.org is that progressives have not really ever had a Progressive v. Republican business website before.

In most cases, for regional trips, you'll get there in an effectively equivalent amount of time to driving, and only slightly effectively longer than flying, and it's cheaper.

How can that be when the trip takes 13 hours compared to 3 on the plane?

Because you have an extra 2 hours at the airport, an hour in most cities getting to the airport, and an hour after you get off the plane getting your bags and car and stuff. So your 3 hour flight really takes you 6-7 hours. And since trains tend to run at night, you can do the overnight thing and arrive at your destination rested - the seats in trains are far more comfy than anything on a plane - and ready to get to business.

Amtrak is a federal program that keeps losing funding. Every other first world nation has an effective passenger rail system. We must keep ours alive.

Trying to remember long lists of companies to boycott or support is a little too complicated for me. Especially since I live in a conservative city where even the locally-owned businesses are likely to be Republican donors or supporters.

I live in a town of ~20,000 population and places like Walmart, Home Depot, Taco Bell have run others out of business. KMart is gone, KFC and Wendy's pulled out, which is okay. But we have a limited selection around here. Even locally-owned restaurants and businesses are scarce. I've made an effort to avoid Walmart as much as possible and instead I try to shop at in-state owned businesses like Marsh, Martin's supermarkets and drug stores like Walgreen's. If I can't buy from local retailers for something I want, I at least try in-state owned businesses. Sadly, most of the business is owned by Republicans in this town, too. So it doesn't make much difference.

I was coming up with nothing suitable for my unusual looking kitten when I looked down at the buckle on my Oberon purse strap during lunch one day. I just discovered them last week. Both organic and fair trade. Makes the best cup of joe I've ever had--not acidy at all. They've apparently been around for a while but I was unaware of them. You can buy online. They are carried at one of the supermarkets in a nearby town in our area. You can buy in bulk too.
