2. He goes where the narcissistic supply is. |
|
 Going 'cold turkey' in January 2009 is far more than he can handle.

3. When he was governor of Texas he was very reluctant to |
|
become President. I think he was conned into it by Cheney and his cronies. They knew that Bush could be led by the nose.

6. Bush does what his Daddy tells him to do. |
|
He isn't smart enough to make decisions for himself. Everyone in his family knows this, and because of that he isn't allowed to think for himself. That's why he's an alcoholic, a drug abuser, a liar, a hypocrit, a thief, and a bigot. He can't make decisions for himself, so he does as he's told and that is why he has so many (mental) problems that are hidden from the public.

9. I think he was a semi-willing pawn. I voted he did what he was told. |
|
Down in Texas, Bush never looked like he enjoyed talking about running, or running. Nationally, he was most relaxed when he was trailing in the polls--every time he took a lead, he seemed more agitated and angry. Many interpreted that as him not wanting to be president.
I think Bush ran because he was supposed to, because his daddy's friends came to him and showed him how he could win, and because it was his chance to finally beat his daddy at something, or at least prove his equal. That's a defining characteristic of his life.
I don't think he really wanted to be president, and I think he knew he was unqualified and unable to handle the job. And I think he buried that insecurity once they made him president, and that extreme "confidence" and arrogance is his way of pushing all doubt from his mind. As with all bullies, all egomaniacs, it's all a sign of his insecurity, and like all other bullies, Bush has chosen this least healthy way to handle his doubts.
He should have listened to his first instinct and not run. But he had that whole Oedipal thing going, and couldn't refuse it.

10. Of course he wanted to be president, if it was up to Poppy it would |
|
have been Jeb. The problem is that Junior see's the presidency as being a figure head and wanted the pomp and ceremony that being president encompasses without having to do any heavy lifting.

11. I think he did it to prove he'd be a better, more respected Pres. than his father... |
|
There is some real heavy sh*t between those two, and I think W felt he had something to prove to the old man.
Ironic that now that his presidency has finally failed that it is his father stepping in to save his legacy. Freud would have LOVED this family....

12. Like he "wanted" to go to Andover, Yale, and Harvard, |
|
the presidency was something prestigious that was handed to him because of his powerful and wealthy family. He didn't have a burning ambition for any of them, but enjoyed the prestige and accepted the perks smugly as his "due."

14. According to Bob Woodward's book, "State of Denial", yes...the little twit wanted to be prez |
|
and after he made that decision he asked for help with FOREIGN POLICY, imagine that! Guess who poppy Bush called? BANDAR BUSH. Bandar knows everyone, has traveled the world on behalf of the Saudi Royal Family and THAT is who poppy Bush called in to teach the IDIOT geography and world politics. Worked well, didn't it?:eyes: Woodward didn't say whether someone else was behind the idiot running for prez, but I don't expect that to ever be known by anyone other than those who chose their little puppet. Cheney, is my guess.

15. I remember in 2000... |
|
I argued frequently with a far-Right coworker about Dubya's utter lack of qualifications. When I pointed out that Bush knew (and knows, for that matter) nothing about foreign policy, my coworker argued "Well, he'll surround himself with knowledgeable advisors." I wonder if my coworker knew who those advisors would be...

But only because he wanted the power that came with the job. He never gave a shit about helping the country.
