Fundamentalists blame the Jews for secularism.
Atheists fault them for wearing religion on their sleeve.

The Caliphate blamed the Jews for lack of assimilation.
Germans blamed them for assimilating too well.

It almost seems like the purpose of Judaism is to be a lightning rod for "otherness".
