15. My grandfather was prounounced dead at birth
but that was in 1907. You would expect medicine to have advanced a bit since then.

(Everyone was worried about his mom, who was a bit old to be birthin' babies, rheumatoid arthritis etc., but those were also the good old days before birth control, and men's needs came before those of a sick woman. His eldest sister who was 20 noticed that he was breathing despite having been stored in an ice cold unheated room and saved him. She pretty much raised him too.)

I hope that the child does not suffer permanant damage. I am amazed at how unaware many people still seem to be that small children and water should never be left alone together, even for a second. A neighbors child died a few years ago in an unattended and accesible pool.
