While the UAE laws prohibit homosexuality, many homosexuals live and even live together here. The culture is very open within an semi-underground context. I know many gay and lesgian people who live, work, and love it here. It is a kind of don't ask don't tell kind of thing.

Like many things in the UAE, homosexuality only becomes troublesome for the authorities when people flaunt or promote the fact of their sexualtiy. This was a (mock?)large qay wedding complete with transvestites held in a public space (hotel/resort).

These guys shouldn't be jailed...

You should know that in cases like these, defendants often spend a very short time in jail and are then deported back to their home countries.

Hey, but shouldn't it work both ways... A number of people were calling for Muslims to cool it because the West, or Denmark has free speech written into their laws. So, the world must follow the laws of that place. Well, homosexuality has always been against the law in the UAE. All of these people knew what the laws were.

And you know what, NEITHER position is right because it does not respect human rights...
