No one would stand up and say we are a nation based in the free exchange of ideas. If we were true to our core principles wherein people are allowed to choose their own governments, our government wouldn't have sent guys like me to fight that disaster known as the Vietnam War.
The labor movement that raised living standards for many Americans, and was the engine that drove the middle-class to prominence, was the victim of a smear campaign paid for by the captains of industry as they saw increased wages for the working class as a direct threat to their power to manipulate those less fortunate and more honest. The robber barons saw organized labor in league with the Red menace. Some things never change. Most great fortunes start with a crime.
The current cartel in the White House has taken the lessons learned from every reprobate in history from Machiavelli to Goebbels to Al Capone and used those lessons to impose an odious government on everyone else.
