For a number of years. And, as the daughter of a gay man, I was appalled.

The other organizers were reluctant to kick them out, when it became an issue, because they had the viewpoint that the gay pride parade should be inclusive. That people who had been ostracized for so long shouldn't be ostracizing other sexual minorities. But this viewpoint, in the end, lost.

Concerning the article, perhaps you missed this sentence:

"In 1980 a group called the "Lesbian Caucus – Lesbian & Gay Pride March Committee" distributed a hand-out urging women to split from the annual New York City Gay Pride March because the organizing committee had supposedly been dominated by NAMBLA and its supporters."

If you read the article again, you will note how many of the gay organizations were supporting elimination of age-of-consent laws. That was also the brainchild of the NAMBLA people.
