Murray will be the fourth-ranking Democrat in the Senate, after only Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.; incoming majority whip Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill.; and Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., who will serve in a newly created No. 3 leadership post while continuing to lead the fundraising Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee through 2008.
