BLOOMINGTON, Ind. A union leader says he fears that General Electric may soon announce a major layoff at its Bloomington refrigerator plant -- perhaps cutting the jobs of as much as a third of its 18- hundred workers.

Glenn Collins is president of Local 2249 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He tells The Herald-Times of Bloomington that by the end of July there could be an announcement that 500 to 600 workers at the plant will be laid off.
