Here in Canada, PM Chretien signed Kyoto against great opposition. The only reason that he did it is because he's retiring anyhow and he knows its the right thing to do. His successor Paul Martin is a neo-con lite so we'll be be back to handing out favours to corporations as soon as he gets in.

Global warming is an incredibly underreported story. Here, the forests in BC were shut down for weeks, its never been this hot and dry before. Even today it was 95 degrees out, it should be 65 or 70 max this time of year. And I'm seeing more and more of those new big stupid gas guzzling SUV's around in the city than ever, not that they are the entire cause but they sure don't help matters.
