McKinney Election GOP crossover vote may affect outcome; GA Dems [View All]

So according to good ol boy DeKalb Dem party official its ok to be a republican or encourage republican crossover, but according to him its not ok to run against an established candidate, unless of course its last time when they didn't care a new comer was running against a long time democrat incumbent. And they wonder why turn out was low in democratic districts last cycle.

"I don't think anybody can question Sen. Levetan's commitment and service to the Democratic Party," he said. "I do think there is some question about Mr. Vaughn's commitment to the party, being that he ran as recently as 2000 . . . against one of our long-standing Democrats, Doug Teper."

The Republican Party's official position is that Catherine Davis is its candidate, but {mike]Kovacich said Levetan, a two-term DeKalb CEO, "has strong support among Republicans in north DeKalb."

"I've gotten a lot of Republican money," she said recently. "My synagogue has got a lot of good Republicans. Honey, I've got a lot of people that believe in me."

"Her voting record was Republican most of the time," Thomas said of Levetan. "She was the only Democrat who voted to cap punitive damages at $250,000 in medical malpractice cases."
