11. No, they already have a proxy army to use for that

The leaders of the so-called "rebels" are mostly past US agents anyway, whose horrible crimes were assisted by our support and have since been sheltered. Some of the criminals responsible for the mass murders of the Duvaliar and 90s-junta periods rest comfortably right here in this country, safe from prosecution--that puts the hysteria about Saddam Husayn in an interesting perspective.

The leaders of the "rebels" are composed of these types, as well as some remnants of the Duvaliar dictatorship's political machine, backed by top "pro-American" business elites who cheered when Bush was selected, and former (well, not so "former" actually) heads of the right-wing death squads and the military junta that had deposed Aristide before and instituted another reign of terror over the country to prevent any sort of popular rule. Even if Bush's people had an army to send, they probably wouldn't need to.

Aristide was a very good man and has more recently in the last decade or so lost his way, but should still be supported against those who want to re-instate the era of fascist military rule that first deposed him and preceeded him under the Duvaliar dynasty, which was a great deal worse than whatever could be said of him now. I wouldn't expect US politicians to lift a finger in the right direction here.
