They _don't_ know the truth. My brother-in-law voted for Jr. and when I asked him why, his answers were about vague, wishy-washy *ideas* about strong gov., tax-and-spend liberals and so on.

I spent a couple minutes trying to get him to see the forest, but he just didn't care enough.

Bush sent out a message that was palatable to a lot of people.

And the Media transmitted it: I think they are to blame.

Never give up on a pug, they can generally be won over with common sense, but it's an arduous road, and you have almost every other voice they will hear every day, working against you.
