We never seem to hear enough about our "Daily Heroes" in Law Enforcement. The Taser is a valuable tool....and saves lives.

An injury to a Dayton police officer sparked a car chase that ended near Enon on Sunday night.

An officer pulled over a car near the BP station at Main Street and Interstate 75 in Dayton about 8:20 p.m. for a traffic stop, Dayton Police Lt. Robert F. Mannix said.

The driver, Blake L. Adams, 41, no address given, opened his car door and the officer asked for his driver's license.

Adams wouldn't comply, put his car in reverse and struck the officer, Mannix said.

Police would not release the name of the officer involved.

Adams then reportedly tried to pull forward, Mannix said, but was blocked by another car.

He reversed, Mannix said, again striking the officer with the car door. The officer suffered a cut to his little finger that might require stitches.

Adams fled and at least three Dayton cruisers pursued the car through the downtown, on Springfield Street, past Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, through Fairborn and into Clark County.

He pulled over in front of Howard's IGA, 7581 Dayton Road, near Enon.

Adams again wouldn't comply, Mannix said, and officers shocked him with a stun gun a couple of times.

He hit his head on the pavement and was taken to Grandview Hospital in Dayton.

Adams was arrested on charges of felonious assault on a police officer, felony fleeing and eluding and resisting arrest.
