been demobilized and her entire WMD monitoring network pulled out and replaced--probably an impossible task--because what the traitors did was to put her life in danger and the lives of every one of her covert contacts. I can't see the CIA endangering their own, and destroying their WMD project, 20 years in the making, in such a Byzantine sting to curtail WH thugs. Also, Miller did huge damage to the security of this country in her propagandizing for the Iraq war on the front pages of the NYT--a policy that the CIA opposed. Why would they permit an agent to do that, especially with what they knew of the Bushite lies about Iraq WMDs?

I don't doubt that there are some Byzantine aspects to Treasongate, and have been known to spin a theory or two of my own, but I don't think this one flies.

Keep trying, though. This one is deep, and we need some brains (and good investigators) to keep poking at it.

My pet theory: The Niger forgeries, and the planting of the Niger allegation in Bush's SOTU speech were the beginning point of a Bush Cartel sting against the CIA--a lure to get them to publicly commit on there being no nukes in Iraq. Part two of this sting was to plant nukes in Iraq, for Judith Miller to "find." (They had her all set up with an "embed" contract devised by Rumsfeld; and had the public all primed for it.) SOMEBODY--Plame/Brewster-Jennings? David Kelly (in England)? Other, with connections to these?--foiled that rotten little scheme to plant WMDs in Iraq. And the Bushites--in a panic for fear of discovery of their attempted deceit, and in retribution--rushed to out Plame, in a helter-skelter fashion (calls to at least SIX reporters, that is, six journalist witnesses to treason, etc., in a one week period, 7/7/03 to 7/14/03), putting many top Bushites at great risk, with the results we see today, the entire regime in peril.

The SECOND Plame outing--of Brewster Jennings, the entire network--also by Novak, on 7/22--is one of the things that alerted me to the bogusness of the Rovian revenge story. Why double their risk of treason charges by this second outing--if their purpose was just to punish an ex-diplomat for his dissenting article? Was the Rovian revenge story cover for something else? There are several possible answers to this (one being to point away from Cheney as the architect of the Wilson trip to Niger; another--a good one--Cheney wanted BJ/CIA disabled, to further his arms dealings around the world). But the METHOD of the outings--the speed, the carelessness, the risks, the stupidity of it!--seems to be pointing at SOMETHING as an immediate cause for panic and fear.

That's where David Kelly comes--who was found dead, under highly suspicious circumstances, in England--four days after Plame was outed. His office and computers were searched, and then, four days after that, BJ was outed by Novak (July 22). But the key date may be July 7, because that is the day that Tony Blair was informed that Kelly knew more than he had been whistleblowing about to the BBC. If what Kelly knew, or had participated in, was the foiling of the Bushites' WMD-planting plot in Iraq, then a whole lot of mysteries in his story, and in Plame's story, suddenly start being solved. And the capper to this theory is that Judith Miller is the connective tissue between the two events. She was a friend and colleague of Kelly's, used him as a major quoted source in her book "Germs," and it was to Miller that David Kelly wrote his last email, the day he died, warning of the "many dark actors playing games" (disclosed by his family, not by Miller).

Kelly was mysteriously outed to his bosses (he had been whistleblowing anonymously), interrogated, threatened, outed to the press, and sent home without protection, during the same week that Miller and others were thickly involved in outing Plame and her network and putting all those covert agents and contacts at risk of death.

The dates and the themes and the signs of panicky coverup are just too coincidental to be ignored. It may be just a common M.O. of repressing and punishing dissent about the war and the WMD lies, in the US and the UK, but it feels like something more.
