But when there are posts about how bad this will be for Bush, it just makes me cringe. This is bad for the families of those who are dying and being maimed, it's bad for everyone in Iraq just trying to stay alive and it's bad for America. Who cares about how this makes Bush look?
On Edit: Let me say that I don't agree with Malkin-- she's an idiot who rarely knows of what she speaks. However, I think our focus should be a renewed call to exit Iraq and not to gloat about how bad this will look for Bush.
------------------------------------
THAT is the post of which I was referring: It ties the idea that 'counting bodies' is bad for bush ... and that those who speak of 'body counts', or post threads regarding them, do so with the express intention of embarassing Bush ... Or that it is done without any concern or consideration of the families of soldiers who have died ....
MY point is this:
It is significant to us as citizens to know how many of our fellow citizens have lost their lives in this military adventure ... It is, and should be PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE what is happening to 'our boys' in Iraq and Afghanistan ... that is an issue separate from the choice made to go to war in the first place ... but it is a RESULT of that choice .... The choice was made by Bush and his ilk in the GOP power sphere ... It was a WRONG choice, it was a choice based on falsehood .. and he should be held accountable for that choice ....
I am not 'defensive about this', but I am and will be 'offensive' against those who would attempt to deny my right to blame the 'body count', which I believe to be the result of an illicit war based on lies, on the very party whom had promoted those lies and falsehoods ...
The body count is real ... there is NO glee or 'happiness' when it is declared ... yet there is a suitable target for blame: Bush and his party .... We of course mourn with those families who have lost loved ones in this debacle ... The FIRST soldier lost was the first wrongful death of a soldier, as the last will be ... But let's not let our mourning stand in the way of justice ... Bush MUST be held accountable for this .....
I am defending OUR right to 1) Establish how many of my fellow citizens have died and 2) Blame it on the responsible party ...
ANYONE who tries to interfere with the ability to make that connection had better have a damned good reason ....
