21. Here's the thing,
When people say this war is about oil, nobody expected Bush to go connect a hose to the pipline, start up Arbusto II and watch the money flow into his personal bank account. Yet anything short of that will be spun by the right as "see this had nothing to do with oil."

The lesson of Enron should be that the control of the flow of energy and control of energy markets is more important than the actual energy itself. The real money is made not by the owners of the oil but by people who can manipulate prices and play games with the market. Why get dirty actually pumping the oil out of the ground when you can make billions by playing games with imaginary numbers?

So regardless of who owns the Iraqi oil and who makes the first profits off of it (It could be an Iraqi though it certainly won't be the Iraqi people) the people down the line are the ones who hold all of the power and stand to make the most money.
