And I apologize for that.

But the fact remains that an awful lot of what gets posted here is the same GOP talking points, over and over, day after day. Sometimes a quarter of the threads on the first page are regurgitated freeperisms. In fact, a couple of people here (who will remain nameless) seem to make it a practice to haunt the FR board day and night and then rush breathlessly to DU to repost every stupid, vile thing that gets said there. (OMG!!! A Freeper Just Said John Kerry Is A Homo!!!) As though we're supposed to be perpetually surprised that there are some real stupid assholes on the right wing who have way too much time on their hands.

The problem with spending so much time on that stuff, of course, is that it tends to make us reactive--we fret over how to respond to what some irrelevant jerkoff on another board said, rather than coming up with our own attacks, educating ourselves about what really matters, etc. If we obsess over the freepers, then we are putting them in control, and frankly I think the Left in this country, and not just DU, has spent way too much time back on its heels playing defense these past few years.
