69. One Party Rule
In my opinion the Republican leaders have had a taste of one party rule and will do anything to keep power. Look how they intimidate, even bribe their own. To investigate these crimes might threaten their hold on the majority, so in their minds it's better to sweep them under the rug until they can consolidate their power. Any republican who sides with the opposition on these matters will be castigated.
