5. Didn't you get the memo?

They don't do actual investigating or what used to be called "reporting" - you know, digging up facts and seeing if the truth was being told.
They now are glorified teleprompter readers and in some cases, they actually take notes (!!) When the WH speaks so it can be read out across their network. Those notetakers are the real hard working ones - imagine writing down what Scott McClellan says then saying it on camera!
