Even here on DU, the word "balls" came up constantly. All the tough guy, gun-totin', courageous warrior protector stuff was huge. The irony is Kerry was that for real, while the Chimp obviously isn't; another irony is that we don't need the IMAGE of a manly fighter for our leader nearly as much as a person who can actually make smart decisions, and a woman could definitely do that. But the fear people seem to have, given national security and "terra" looming so large, probably precludes victory for a woman for awhile now, because people do seem to think as though the president were going to fistfight somebody or something. I still hope it'll happen in my lifetime.
