But real power is more important. I dont know whether if is doable. But if Dean could slyly look like he is willing to be a party man (and a doer, instead of a yakker), it seems to me that he could quietly become the effective, de facto party head by amassing a clean treasury that would make heads spin. More importantly, he would be the power broker and gate-keeper for the new progressive majority.

While all the traditional suits are satisfied playing their game, Dean could be quietly busy taking over the party mechanism. I dont know if his he is willing to forego a few ego strokes early on. But when his leadership would come to fruition 18-24 months from now, he would have that too in addition to the death grip on the DNC. That's how they use to do it in the old Kremlim. Take the reins and look like the hired help for awhile, and then become the top dog with all the levers at your command.
