9. We're too poor to afford gifts in my family

We really don't have the money, and we were robbed over Thanksgiving. What money was left for the end of the year was stolen. It's all right though. Nobody got hurt or killed, and we still have our health and each other. That's good enough. Too many sad memories for me over Christmas anyway.

Just be happy for what you have left. It may not be much, but it certainly beats living in despair.
