Thoughts from Camp Casey and the

Crawford Peace House.

We got home last night. Proud2Blib came to my house Tuesday morning and we drove from Topeka to Waco and on to Crawford. We met DancingBear there, one incredible fellow. I am so happy to know him. He is as wonderful as his posts. We also met DUer Tater_salad, quite by accident, who went to Camp Casey for a couple of days and ended up staying. An amazing person who I am also thrilled to know.

It is difficult for me to put into words what this experience was like. Happy chaos in some places, frenetic activity full of purpose. Joy, peace, trust with a thick undercurrent of purpose, serious thought and deep sorrow.

We were welcomed with smiles, embraced and thrown into the vast experience of creating change. For me it was like going home, like the years of my high school and college. I even had the chance to work my two fingers back into the peace sign of old that had meant so much to many of us in our formative years.

They mean business there. This is not going away. People from all over the world are there. Some famous, most just average people like me. The experience changed me in ways I can't even fathom quite yet. I sit here in my wonderful, comfortable home wishing I was back sweating and hauling trash in Camp Casey.

If there is any way for you to get there go. If not keep writing your support. Cindy is strong and determined but our support is holding her up so that she can continue. Send money if you can. They could use phone cards we were told.

I hope to be able to write more at a later time. Right now I feel almost unable to put it into words, almost as if I am not ready to share it yet. I just wanted to give you a small perspective from one more person who has been there. It is a life altering experience, go.

I almost forgot. Anna. Our first job before we even got to the Crawford Peace House was to run over to the Waco Airport and pick up a young woman arriving after taking a red eye flight alone to get there. She became an immediate companion and we hope will become a member here on DU, she certainly knows all of you by now after hanging out with 3 DUers for a couple of days. That is the spirit of this movement. No one is a stranger, we share a purpose. The group is still small enough that it feels like instant family. Anna, if you read this I miss you and hope you join us soon.
