Walmart Ads in Vogue
Advertisements [?]

Eight pages in the September issue. How bizarre is that? The ads show eight different women - none of whom closely resemble women I've seen in Walmart - their occupations, their "style profiles," their Walmarts (location), what they bought there (of the clothing they're wearing), and what they "brought from home."

The "martial artist" goes from sunrise surfs to dinner parties with karate in between and changes five times a day - from tomboy to bombshell in ten minutes flat. She brought eelskin cowboy boots from home. (Don't all Walmart shoppers have a pair of those?)

The fundraiser grew up in Argentina in a family of famous dancers, so she has tango in her blood. Dresses conservatively when raising funds for Julliard, but at least once a week hits the Copacabana to kick up her heels and the glam quotient. Apparently there's no Walmart near Julliard, so she tangoes on down to walmart.com.

Trés lame! I'm having more than the usual remorse over having bought this magazine.
