36. Just got off the phone with someone at Camp Casey 2
Renee Feltz, News Director of KPFT (Houston) is at Camp Casey 2 now. She came on one of the multiple busses arranged by people in Austin, Dallas, and Houston.

I asked her about the reports of 3000. She said that seemed high to her, but she thought there were more than 2000 supporters of Cindy.

(Camp Coordinator Ann Wright said yesterday she was expecting 1000 to 1500 supporters today, Saturday. Yesterday's Camp Casey 2 numbers were around 200 in the afternoon.)

She said busses are still arriving, and that each one gets a big round of applause from those already gathered.

She said it is an age-diverse crowd, with children and young people as well as middle-aged and older. The maps put up at the Crawford Peace House and Camp Casey 2 show that people have come from virtually every state in the Union.

But, today LOTS of people from Texas. Cindy said that she didn't expect such a good welcome from Texans, but she will be sorry to leave.

Renee said that entering the town of Crawford (a one-stoplight town, pop. 705) is a complete traffic jam. The pro-Bush supporters are out (they have a base at the souvenir shop at the corner of the two main streets), and lots of bikers. However, Renee's friend who was standing there, who is a biker, said, "they're not real bikers!" LOL
