4. Gore had no choice
Had he fought on, in addition to the fact that the media whoring would have worsened tenfold, the Florida legislature simply would have appointed 25 Bushbot electors. Had that failed, the Congress simply would have refused to certify Florida's electors, depriving Bush of a majority and throwing the election to the House, which would have chosen Bush.

Even if Bush v. Gore had ruled in Gore's favor there is no guarantee that Al Gore would be president today. Republicans in heavily Bush counties of Florida could have "liberalized" their counting standards. Republicans could have mounted more serious recount efforts in New Mexico, Wisconisn and Iowa (though Democrats could have tried something in New Hampshire). Even though it was a bad court decision it cannot be asserted that its reversal alone would have changed the outcome.
