But the trip was counter-productive because Bush appears to have demoralised his troops...

That visit wasn't for the troops. It was for the folks back home.

There are 100,000 troops + or -in Iraq. Bush visited a few hundred. The rest, slogging in the sand, are still out slogging in the sand.
