2. Honestly that better not be the case
I believe in allowing gay marriage to include all the legal bits and pieces that straight people have to go through which includes the hassles of divorce ect. If we want it to all be equal than this better be the way it is.

Overall the biggest reason why I support gay marriage is so that 20 year+ partners don't get screwed over when their significant other dies or for some reason just takes off leaving the other screwed. I'm sure this happens just as much within gay couples as well.
