Recycling Medical Implants? Info desperately needed!
Advertisements [?]
My mother died on July 7th, and, at her request, I had her one year-old pacemaker and implanted drug pump (commonly known as a "pain pump") removed from her body before burial.

Mom had hoped that these could be donated to help others, and I've found a couple of programs that are willing to take the pacemaker. (Believe it or not, they cannot be cleaned and given to needy people in the United States.)

Now I'm looking for a charity that would take the drug pump, which, I believe, can also provide insulin to people who need it at more regular intervals, too. I've Googled the hell out of it, but I thought maybe one of our resourceful DUers might know of such a charity? (Or if there's a business that buys them, I'd be happy to sell it and donate the proceeds to ousting Bush. It's a $50,000 piece of machinery. That's a lot of 527 dough.)

Any help or advice would be most appreciated.
