18. Cute photo!
I have had both a mouse and a rat as pets and have to say that I preferred the mouse. I wasn't thrilled with the rat's tail, but also, he was very skittish. He had been my lab rat in college, for experimental psych, and there was no way that I was going to let them "recycle" him to the biology department. He was always a little nervous, because of this, but he had a good home with me. My mouse, however, I knew recognized me and loved me. His name was Franklin, after FDR; my rat's name was Barnaby. He was smart enough that he earned me a solid B, in a very tough course.
