2. Well, odds are that if you are dealing with a Compaq machine
you will have to buy a replacement Compaq motherboard. Otherwise you will also have to buy a new case and power supply as well (at a minimum).

Most manufacturers of PC's (i.e. Compaq, Dell, etc.) use a proprietary power supply and motherboard layout, so you can't just drop in an off the shelf motherboard or power supply.

So, unfortunately, you might be out of luck.

I'm going to PM you with some ideas though.
