Patience is something you NEED. Personally, I loved the game but never got into creating my own worlds. I did a few for the fun of it but the novelty wore off pretty quickly (and this is coming from someone who used to work for WEEKS perfecting Doom WAD's).

BTW, the secret to downloading 1GB quickly is to do it at work when everyone else is at lunch. We have a 45Mbit connection here, and I've personally seen download speeds as high as 4.1 megabytes per second. When you get this fast, you're really limited by the speed of the other guys connection :)
