In 2006 they're making a live-action film (kinda like 'Babe') with Dakota Fanning playing Fern and Julia Roberts doing the voice of Charlotte (no mention of who is doing the voice of Wilbur).
There seems to be a great cast (Steve Buscemi is Templeton the Rat) but I noticed something odd about the cast - all the animals have names. When I re-read the book none of the animals had names except the spider and the rat. The rest were pretty much referred to as the type of animal they were.
AND to make matters worse they have Ellen Burstyn playing Fern as a grown woman and I guess Fanning's lil sister is playing Fern's granddaughter. And believe me, there was no grownup Fern in the book.
So I guess the book wasn't good enough and they're just going to re-write a masterpiece to their liking. This isn't making me very happy
