18. I can teach you. It's what I do.
I teach at the Art Center here in Battle Creek. Swing by Knitty.com's messageboards--all kinds of on-line resources to check out and see if you want to try it or not are on the supernewbie thread or really on any search.

It almost always looks harder than it really is. There is only one stitch, the knit stitch where we pull a loop through another loop. That's it. There are variations on that, though, and that's where it can get tricky. The intarsia on the sweater for the donkey is a bit tricky the first time you do it, but it's not hard.
