2. I don't think he'll have to
Street was no exactly popular in Philly, and because of the Justice investigation, he won the mayoral race 2 to 1. It was, in a way, a referendum on the Bush administration in Philly. And with the Republican losing 2 to 1, imagine if it's a Democrat they actually get psyched up for. And a Democrat unseating an incumbent Republican in Allegheny is huge. It doesn't bode well for Bush if all the union voters in Western PA don't cross over, and this seems to indicate that they aren't planning on it.

Rendell is already very popular in PA, and I don't think the Dem nominee needs him on the ticket to win there. Rest assured that Rendell will campaign the state hard for the nominee though. We need to win PA, and I think it's looking pretty good there.

I think the Dem ticket is much more likely to take on a Southern or Midwestern Democrat as the VP. Perhaps Gephardt if he doesn't win on his own, or Mark Warner of Virginia.
