I live in Blanco's hometown, Lafayette, where she wasn't even expected to win but did.

This campaign proved the truth of what I've always said: the larger a candidate's sign has to be, the worse he/she is. Here we had cars with Bobby Jindal signs covering entire doors, so now we see how well that works.

To paraphrase Bob Dole talking about George Bush in '88, Blanco "offers a record, not a resume."

Onward to 2004!
