The cons grabbed the media, so repetition worked really well. And since they don't think, conservatives respond to brain washing.

But liberals backed down, unfortunately, and let the term be demonized. It always bothered me that the left would let them do this. Frankly, there was never a movement more in-your-face than 60s liberalism. Makes the neo-cons look like sissies by comparison.

Today, some use the term "progressive" in place of "liberal". Now, progressive is a nice term, and I like it a lot. But to me, it just reflects the fact that the liberals of the early 90s didn't stand up.
