Look at smoking. Could we be where we are today if we had started out demanding no smoking in any public place, indoors or out? In many communities, that is were we are, but we had to start with no smoking inside government buildings, and no-smoking sections in restaurants.

Once we see that we can tolerate a slow-down, we can take it further and further. A slowdown is possible, now. An abrupt stop will generate a fight that will keep anything from happening until it is too late.
