5. I personally have met many people who used fireams in self defense ...
My mother and my daughter were just two. If not for the fact that my mother had a S&W Ladysmith revolver in her purse in the 1920s, I might never have been born. She was walking home from a bus station when a man rushed her. She fired two shots over his head and he ran. If my daughter wouldn't have access to a firearm the night she stopped a man forcing the sliding glass door of our home open, my two grandsons might not been born either. She didn't even have to fire a shot, she just pointed a large caliber revolver at the intruder after he said he intended to rape her. He lost his desire and ran. (The moral of these stories might be that when a woman has a gun and knows how to use it, men are no longer the big bad boys they thought they were.)

People use firearms for legitimate self defense everyday. Frequently, the newspaper articles are posted here in the Gungeon.

I have no problem with the media covering stories that emphasize the criminal misuse of firearms. I know that "if it bleeds it leads". Still, occasionally they should cover the other side of the story. The fact that they don't is why you think such incidents are rare.
