"Haifa police confirmed Saturday for the first time that Eliran Golan, 22, who is suspected of making and planting bombs aimed at Arab targets in the Haifa area, received warnings several years ago that he was making improvised weapons, but the records were deleted.


Other warnings from members of the public referred to his hatred for Arabs and the fact that he had been collecting matches that could be used to prepare explosive devices. The warnings were received before Golan began to make bombs, which he did for more than three years before he was apprehended.

Police questioned Golan some three-and-a-half years ago, but decided to close the file as this was his first investigation and officers did not want to jeopardize his future."
