6. 500 people times a couple of cameras, phones, etc quickly adds up to millions.
Particularly when it's production quality equipment as some of it was. Won't claim it as gospel, but my understanding when released, it was with passport and very little else.

ARE not currently held. WERE taken prisoner in an illegal act of piracy in international waters. WERE illegally held prisoner. DID have personal possessions stolen in that act of piracy.

Perhaps these people were going to do something illegal. Once inside waters actually legally under Israeli control that would have been a given. However, the ONLY people who actually broke any laws were the Israelis. Even if some on the ships did defend themselves, it makes no difference whatsoever. They would have been entirely within their legal rights to kill every single boarder, and sink or destroy any craft that fired upon them.

Refusing to let it in? Or refusing to aquiesce to Israeli conditions attached to it being allowed in? I don't actually know which, but there is certainly a difference.

A suitcase containing what? I'll lay odds it was significantly less than when she packed it. A little poetic license covers that no problem. Clothes on their back, or nothing but the clothing they took with them. Bugger all in it really.

Nothing can put a good light on the behaviour of the Israelis. They could have done exactly the same thing inside waters they control. The rest of the world might still have had words to say, but it would have been words only no one could have found actual fault.

Israel deliberately did this out in international waters to reinforce a message that they have been sending for quite some time. Israel will do as it damned well pleases and will be constrained by neither international opinion nor law. One official commenting on the eviction of 12 or 1600 families in East Jerusalem a few months ago made it even clearer. "We are God's Chosen." "We do not care what the rest of the world thinks." "We will do as we choose."
