11. that just isn't true
The percentage of GOP Senate votes for the Civil Rights act of 1964 was actually higher than the percentage of Democratic votes for it. Of course many of those Democrats who voted against joined the GOP later but back then the GOP was decent on Civil Rights if they came from a region which was decent.
