Clark endorsed for president by legislators

The Associated Press
2/2/2004, 5:23 p.m. CT

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark was endorsed Tuesday by several members of the Alabama Legislature.

From Our Advertiser

State Sen. Jimmy Holley, D-Elba, said the retired Army general and former NATO supreme allied commander is the only candidate "with a proven record of success in wartime."

"The people of Alabama need and deserve a real leader in the White House who will not divide, but unite all Americans and lead us forward into a renewed era of peace and prosperity," Holley said.

Holley was joined at the news conference at the Alabama Statehouse by Sen. Tom Butler, D-Huntsville, and Rep. Thad McClammy, D-Montgomery. They said they were representing 15 lawmakers who support Clark.
